So I have never done sewing and I don’t have any history with it until we started doing it a few weeks ago. When I was sewing, I didn’t even know what I was doing. I was very new to this so I was confused, but then my teachers started to demonstrate it and I started to get the hang of it. Before I started sewing, I chose five stitches that were dark but at the same time it gave out a bright color. This is what me and my teammates, who are Julian Aguiniga, Daryan Matson, and Jeden Chase have worked on for the past week or so. We all brought our stitches together and we made them into a small quilt, and then we started to play bingo.

There was a family that was called Cardoso. Everybody in that family has small feet, small hands, and small bodies. My name is Omero Cardoso and I'm part of this short family. My mom is 5'4", my dad is 5'5" and I'm just 5'. None of us can reach the top shelf of the drawer. I have to climb on top of the counter and get the stuff that we needed to cook. That's how small my family is. My name means hostage in Greek. It means a desert with two people. It is sour. It is as white as snow. It's my father's name and now it’s mine. We both love to play soccer and eat seafood. In America, they say my name as O-mar-o or Omar. But my mom calls me a procrastinator like a dog trying to eat while a squirrel is running. I want to change my name to something more athletic a name that suits me better. Something like David or Philippe. My house is small. It has a large yard, in my house, there is a small television. There are no trees around so it is so hot that sometimes it suffocates. The windows are big, but we never open them. I feel very comfortable in my house, my house has 2 bathrooms, 3 rooms. I like it because it's always at peace and it's always quiet. On Saturdays, I play soccer. When I play soccer, I carry a backpack that I have with me which has, soccer shoes, goalkeeper gloves, and a bottle of water. If something goes wrong, for example, when I had injured my ankle, I couldn't play. I like to be a goalkeeper when it rains because it is very easy to dive for the ball. What I like most about soccer is when I am the person who throws a free-kick.
My parents forced me to come to New Tech High. Originally, I wanted to go to Vintage High but, my parents thought it would be better for me if I go to New Tech. I was trying to convince my parents to let me transfer and hopefully go to Vintage, but then I started to like New Tech because the campus was small and the classes were easy. I was nervous, I didn’t know what was going to happen and how they were going to grade my work. So I asked them what was the grading rubric and I asked how they were going to grade it. I felt a little better when they told me because I was familiar to the way they were grading it. I’m glad that I now know what grading rubric the teachers are using and I'm also glad that this school is small and that it’s easy to reach out to the teachers. Knowing how the teachers grade I will take that to my advantage. Also I will talk to my teachers if I see something that goes wrong. If your worried about school stuff like how the teachers are going to grade your work, all you have to do is just ask.
In this project, I set out to make a model of a brain with the spinal cord with my team. The subject, my team and I were learning about, was brain physiology. We were planning to make the brain out of Styrofoam, but we thought it would be easier if we make the brain out of clay and to make the spinal cord we decided to get pipe cleaners and cut some water bottles and put the pipe cleaners through it. We also got wood so that the brain would be on top of the piece of wood because the water bottle wouldn't be able to hold the brain. While we were making the brain we were also thinking of color-coding the brain so that people knew which part of the brain was which. We also needed to research the brain so that we know what parts we were going to color-code and then we researched what that part of the brain did and why that specific part was important. So we got our information and got a paper and wrote a key on top and then the facts in the bottom. |
